Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 9, 2007 -- Author, Deronte' Smith explores real life issues with a genius comedic twist in his new book The Fantastical Adventures of Sleepy Steve: Reuniting the Stone (Infinity One Publishing ISBN 0-0772888-0-3 $9.95 www.sleepysteve.com).

As a sixth grader, school happens to be an uncompromising part of life. Each day many kids go to school hiding their secrets whether they have disabilities, insecurities or physical imperfections. Sleepy Steve is the poster child for each as he is overweight, has a sleeping disorder and is insecure with himself because of his issues. With the recent separation of his parents, Steve and his mother relocate for new opportunities and a fresh start. Steve tries to keep his handicap concealed for as long as possible. Upon his first day of school, he encounters Chuck, a Hispanic genius who befriends him immediately. Both Steve and Chuck share the same first and second period class where they meet Ieka, Sammy and Ms. Elle by way of a class assignment. Can Steve keep his secret under wraps? How will Steve 'reunite the stone' or will he?

About The Author:

Deronte' Smith is a native of the great state of Kentucky who currently resides in Georgia. He received his BA in English from the University of Kentucky in 1996. His love for writing was encouraged and nurtured by his mother, an educator who would also create well written plays each Christmas for their church. In due time Smith would see success at an early age winning local and national writing contests. However, it was not until midway through his sophomore year in college that he realized his calling into the field of English. By the end of his senior year, Smith had gained invaluable knowledge and friendships to encourage him along the way. After graduating Smith found a home in the sales industry where he learned to hone the craft of sales and understanding people. Coupled with his experience as a counselor for the YMCA during his college days, Smith realized that he could impact the world of kids with his storytelling abilities. Smith sought out to create a story offering encouragement and understanding to kids dealing with real issues in today's constantly changing society.
